Who Is the Party of God?

Let me get this right 🤔 So the Republican Party is the party of godly morals because of their stance on abortion and LGBT and any “real Christian” would vote with the morally superior party; right? But you’re okay with the fact that they support and do not denounce other sins? When did the Bible equate holiness with refraining from only two sins? What about the others? I mean, you say your values should be depicted at the voting booth; right? And I would agree — each person’s values should be a driving factor — but if your values prohibit you from ever voting as a Democrat — because, you know, you could never vote with the party of abortion — are those the only two issues that shape your worldview as a believer?

Are you the “party of God” when you support unbiblical divorces resulting in multiple unbiblical remarriages? How about premarital sex? I haven’t heard anyone talking about that. Did that get marked off the sin list? Is adultery a moral issue for you? Because both parties have been rocked by those scandals. I mean POTUS is on his 3rd marriage.

How about lying? — again, the current POTUS is a habitual liar. So not only do you want to vote for the party because they’re “moral”, you’re lauding him as a godly candidate? Okay. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Would the “party of God” honestly be the preferred party of some of the most foul racist organizations that exist? Would a truly morally superior party equate American patriotism with service to the Lord? Really?

How about stealing? You can overlook money laundering, bribery, and insider trading but them LGBTs is where you draw the line? I mean your morally superior party has governors accused RIGHT NOW of using their foreknowledge of a PANDEMIC to line their pockets by buying stock in masks and other stock expected to go through the roof, and this is what you call morally superior? That facing the prospect of hundreds of thousands dying, their greed and love of money dominated their thoughts and their actions? Morally superior?

Summation: You cannot support a host of biblical sins and call yourself morally superior because you make a big deal about avoiding two. If a believer told you I stay away from two sins, but I embrace all the rest, would you regard that person as morally superior? Of course not.

Neither of these parties is the “party of God.” They are two wings of the same bird: a morally corrupt, man-made system, by which we can choose to vote the policies we believe best serve our interests. It’s not a way to transform lives and hearts and invoke holiness. We have the gospel for that.
