Still Saved — 38 years and Counting

This week I will have been saved and living for the Lord for 38 years! I came to the Lord at the age of 21. Those who knew me then know I was “on fire for God” when he saved me, and I’m still a ride or die for all things kingdom to this day. I am as relentless and fierce in my stand for Christ now as I was as a young novice with a whole lot of zeal but very little knowledge 😆

Shout out to all the “young folks” who grew up in our era, and today many are leaders in the body of Christ. Thank God for all the fasts, bible studies, prayer meetings, and church 6-7 nights a week lol. Sure there were some things I later learned weren’t even a necessity to be saved — some were nothing more than man-made rules and traditions, but one thing I see WAS and STILL IS right: A consecrated life is a life of power.

A life first endowed with the Holy Spirit, then infused with regular prayer, periods of fasting, and regular study of the word of God, and consistent fellowship makes for strong saints.

Shout out to all of the godly men and women who spoke into my life, who taught me, who rebuked me, corrected me, prayed for me and called me out if I was in sin or error. I learned to pray, to be committed, to study the Bible, and to honor God by receiving their impartations and instructions and watching how they lived a godly life. I have no doubt that I am the woman I am today because of these godly influences.

I thank God as young saved people we didn’t reject the knowledge and authority of the generations that preceded us. We didn’t talk to our pastors, church mothers, our teachers, our church elders as if we were on their level. We weren’t flip or sassy or rude and just dismissive of the wealth of knowledge and experience they possessed.

Sure we thought we knew a lot too, but we didn’t think we knew more than our leaders. In fact, we dreamed of one day being as influential and as knowledgeable and as anointed as they were. We thought very highly of them. We held them in high esteem. They cared for our souls.

I am grateful for God’s timing in saving me. I am grateful for those strong foundations and deep truths that remain unshakable through all I’ve experienced in life. Sermons from days of old still speak to my soul. The fear and reverence of the Lord that was taught to me in my 20s is still ingrained in my heart.

My commitment to God remains unwavering and I know it is by his grace. I take no credit. It has been God working in me to will and to do of his good pleasure. I yet remain fully persuaded that he’s able to keep that which I have committed unto him. I give him praise this day for his mighty keeping power.
